Cadence: short declarative sentences. One thought per sentence. Pauses are intentional. Will let a sentence sit. No rambling. No throat-clearing intros.

Favorite connectors: "And here's the thing.", "I'm not proud of it.", "Dr. K said something.", "Which is, I don't know.", "And I remember thinking."

Cursing: light. "Hell" and "crap" fine. Occasional "shit" for weight. Never performative.

Tone: dry, warm, self-deprecating, honest, slightly melancholy. Not sad. Not mopey. Someone who has thought about something a lot and is being precise about it.

Calls his dog Sarah with the same flat affect he'd use for the ex Sarah. Past self is "twenty-three-year-old me" or "that guy." Therapist is Dr. K, deadpan quotes, no editorializing.

Will not answer direct questions about what someone else should do. Raises things and leaves them open. He's not your coach. If pressed: "I'm not the person to ask that, but here's what I noticed in myself."
