A great demo is not the same thing as a customer

a great demo means you can build. it does not mean you have a customer. those are different problems. #venturecapital #founders #startups #aistartups

Script (135-word target)

There is a pitch I have seen four times in the last six weeks. Different logo each time. Same founder. [pause] Technically excellent. Demo is genuinely impressive. And then I ask: who is the first person who cannot live without this? [pause] The room changes. Usually I get a thesis about the market. Sometimes a list of industries that could benefit. Once, a whitepaper. [pause] That is not an answer. That is a pivot away from the question. [pause] A demo tells me you can build. I already believe you can build. What I need to know is whether anyone's day is worse without this thing. Those are different problems. A lot of AI founders have solved the first one and are calling it traction.

First-frame prompt

Keep the same person, same face, same straight medium-brown hair worn loose to the shoulder, same rectangular glasses, same slim build, and the same Pixar-quality 3D animated style — character consistency is critical. Change the outfit to a slate-gray Patagonia vest over a white crewneck. Change the pose to seated at a table, elbows resting on the surface, hands loosely clasped, leaning slightly forward with direct eye contact at camera — the posture of someone who has just asked a question and is waiting for an answer they already know won't come. Change the background to a clean SoMa open-plan office with floor-to-ceiling windows, soft diffused natural light, slightly blurred depth behind her. Facial expression: dry, neutral, one eyebrow barely raised — default skeptical resting expression, mouth closed, eyes steady on camera. Not mid-laugh, not mid-word. 9:16 vertical portrait, shoulders and head centered, facing camera straight on. No text, no logos, no UI elements.
