4,200 Miles Is Not a Number, It's a Commitment

Platinum status doesn't maintain itself. I want to be transparent about that.

I have a Columbus client visit on the calendar — routine touchpoint, relationship maintenance, the kind of thing that separates the Senior Managers who make Director from the ones who wonder why they didn't. I flagged to Stephanie last night that I'd be routing through Dallas to optimize the trip. She asked why Columbus requires a connection in Dallas. I explained that at this level, the investment in the relationship isn't just the meeting. It's the signal. It's showing up fully. She said, and I'm paraphrasing, that I was flying to Dallas to protect my Platinum status and that the client would never know. I told her that she makes a fair point and that I also have 4,200 miles to close by December 31st and these two things are not mutually exclusive.

Here's the thing: the partner and I have talked about visibility. Not just client-side visibility — carrier-side visibility. The Marriott, American, the CLT club. These are ecosystems. You don't just opt out because the math looks inconvenient on a Tuesday. Stephanie is brilliant and I value her perspective. She does not travel for work. She does not have a Whoop. These are simply different information sets.
