There Are Trash Rules and I Did Not Know About the Trash Rules
Plan (drafter input)
Dan's observation about the unspoken rules of the neighborhood trash and recycling bins — specifically the moment he put his bin out too early and got the look from the guy across the street. Nobody said anything. Nobody had to. There's a schedule. There's an order. Dan didn't know either existed until he violated both. Button: he now checks what time Gary puts his out first.
Suburban observations maps cleanly to hero_text. Fresh lane — recent content hit Costco three times and HOA once, so neighborhood micro-politics from a different angle (the street, not the newsletter) keeps variety. Specific character (Gary), specific infraction, dry button line.
special_message: Plan ONE hero_text post. Format must be hero_text.
Body
I put my bin out on a Tuesday afternoon. Pickup is Wednesday morning. I thought I was being responsible.
Gary, from across the street, was getting his mail. He didn't say anything. He just looked at my bin, then at me, then back at his mail. That was it. That was the whole interaction. But I felt it. I felt the look in my chest. Somewhere between you poor thing and I'm disappointed in you. I went inside and told Lisa. She said what did you do? I said I genuinely don't know yet.
Turns out there's a schedule. Not a written schedule. Not an HOA memo. Just a schedule that everyone in a thirty-year-old cul-de-sac apparently absorbed through the drywall. You don't put your bin out before 6pm the evening before. You don't go first. You wait for a signal I did not know was a signal. Gary goes out at 6:47. That's the signal. I now watch for Gary's bin the way my dad watched for the school bus. I have never once asked Gary about any of this. I never will. Some knowledge is passed down through the look alone.
