Anthropic at $900B: the number that actually matters

Anthropic is raising at least $30 billion at a $900 billion valuation. Revenue went from $9 billion annualized at end of 2025 to $44 billion by May. That's a real growth curve. So is the valuation insane? Not obviously. The math is aggressive but it's not hallucinated. Where it gets speculative is the crypto-derivative implied pricing. Some platforms were printing $1.2 to $1.6 trillion. Anthropic themselves said those tokenized structures don't represent actual equity. So there's a private-round number, and there's a vibes number, and they are not the same thing. Here's what I actually want to know. Revenue 5x'd in roughly five months. Did gross margin hold? Anthropic said it improved. [chuckles] I'd like to see the denominator on that. If you're buying compute at this scale and margin is compressing while revenue explodes, the valuation story changes. That's the number to watch. Not the headline.
